Air Force requirements

Air Force requires RAAF Undergraduate Scheme participants to undertake continuation training throughout their studies and Air Force training at certain stages.

Continuation training includes:

  • annual physical fitness test
  • annual health assessment
  • annual dental assessment.

Undergraduates are not required to maintain weapons currency unless they are already serving members. However, ALL Air Force members will receive weapons training in their initial training and be expected to maintain weapons currency throughout their Air Force career.

Air Force training includes:

  • Air Force Familiarisation Course, 1 week, usually in July or September during university holidays in the first year
  • Military Motivational Attachments, work experience during university holidays
  • Initial Officers' Course, a 4-month course after the completion of your studies
  • Specialisation Basic Courses, of various durations
  • ongoing military and specialisation training.
