RAAF Base Tindal is very much part of the Katherine community with Air Force members and families making up almost 10 per cent of the local population.
The base contributes to the local community through:
- community engagement and cultural awareness
- school and youth programs
- participation in local sport
- use of base sporting facilities as competitors and administrators
- fundraising efforts in support of local charities and community groups.
RAAF Base Tindal works closely with the Katherine Town Council, local landowners and the Katherine community to ensure low-flying operations have a minimal impact on neighbouring cattle stations.
