The Air Warfare Centre (AWC) is a Force Element Group within Air Command. The purpose of the AWC is to deliver timely and relevant advice in response to problems facing products and services delivered by the Air Force. Subject matter experts, organisational stakeholders and industry stakeholders are engaged to deliver the best possible operational solution.
The AWC is critical to establishing the Royal Australian Air Force as a modern and fully integrated combat force that can deliver air and space power effects in the information age.
Headquarters AWC
Headquarters AWC provides the staff functions that enable AWC operations. It is headed up by Chief of Staff for core functions, and a Director of Capability Assurance.
Integration and Innovation Directorate
The Integration and Innovation Directorate (IID) revolves around the key tenets of Integration, Innovation and Information. IID drives Innovation across both the AWC and more broadly across Air Force.
Information Warfare Directorate
Information Warfare Directorate (IWD) is located at RAAF Edinburgh in South Australia and centralises the Air Force’s tactical information warfare elements. IWD enables the development and management of the RAAF’s Information Warfare capabilities.
Test and Evaluation Directorate
Test and Evaluation Directorate (TED) is located at RAAF Edinburgh in South Australia and delivers test and evaluation through a flight test squadron, aviation medicine and a unique engineering/manufacturing capability.
Air Force Ranges Directorate
Air Force Ranges Directorate (AFRD) is located at RAAF Edinburgh in South Australia and improves the way Air Force conducts live, virtual and constructive simulation with other elements of Defence and our coalition partners.
Tactics and Training Directorate
Tactics and Training Directorate (TTD) is located at RAAF Base Williamtown in New South Wales and is tasked with the development of tactics and training across the Air Force. TTD transforms the way we think about and teach air warfare.
