Increased Defence and flying operations at RAAF Base Darwin

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is conducting a land, sea and air-based training exercise from May 23 to June 24, 2022.

Exercise Diamond Storm will see an increased presence of personnel and aircraft, including flying activities at night-time, operating from RAAF Base Darwin throughout the exercise period.

The public can expect to see low-flying aircraft and increased movement of military personnel and vehicles within the area.

Flying times for Exercise Diamond Storm will vary throughout the exercise.

Training exercises help ensure the ADF remains in a ready state of preparedness in the protection of Australia and its national interests.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.

Imagery of the exercise will become available on the Defence Image Gallery.
