RAAF P-8A Poseidon flypast to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War

A Royal Australian Air Force P-8A Poseidon Aircraft operated by No.292 Squadron will conduct a flypast over the National War Memorial in Adelaide to mark the 70th anniversary of cessation of hostilities in the Korean War.

The flypast will be conducted in support of the laying of a wreath at the Australian Armed Forces Memorial located at the National War Memorial, corner of North Terrace and Kintore Ave, Adelaide.

The Royal Australian Air Force is proud to honour those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice in the Korean War.

The Air Force saw distinguished service in the Korean War particularly with No 77 Squadron flying Mustang and Meteor aircraft.

It was the first Commonwealth and United Nations unit to see action in the war.

South Australian aviator, SQNLDR Graham Strout, was the first non-American UN servicemen to perish in the Korean conflict.

Flying is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.

Further information about the P-8A aircraft can be found on the P-8A Poseidon page.

Imagery of the P-8A Poseidon is available on the Defence Image Gallery.
