United States Marine Corps F-35C Lightning II transit through Darwin

Up to four United States Marine Corps (USMC) F-35C Lightning II aircraft will transit through RAAF Base Darwin during their departure from Australia.

Aircraft will arrive on 11 July and depart on 12 July from RAAF Base Darwin.

The F-35C Lightning II aircraft and personnel are from the USMC 314th Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA-314) ‘Black Knights’. The Black Knights have recently completed bilateral training with Royal Australian Air Force F-35A squadrons at RAAF Base Williamtown.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.

Further information about VMFA-314 and its F-35Cs can be found on the VMFA-314 website.
