Exercise Arnhem Thunder begins in the Northern Territory

Up to 12 F-35A Lightning II aircraft will participate in Exercise Arnhem Thunder at RAAF Base Tindal in the Northern Territory from 31 October to 9 November 2023.

Exercise Arnhem Thunder is a Royal Australian Air Force training activity that includes Number 75 Squadron from RAAF Tindal, NT and Number 77 Squadron from RAAF Williamtown, NSW and involves day missions, with no flying on the weekends.

Aircraft involved in the exercise will occasionally land and depart from RAAF Base Darwin. Flying is subject to change due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and other aviation considerations.

Exercises are essential to maintain air force’s high training standards and operational capability.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.

Information on flying activities is available on the flying activity page.
