Increased Flying Activity at RAAF Base Williamtown – December 2024

There will be an increase in flying activity at RAAF Base Williamtown over the month of December.

  • Monday 2 – Friday 20 December 2024: Exercise Lightning Ferry 24 will see an increase in F-35A operations throughout this period, aircraft may be landing at night outside usual flying hours.
  • Wednesday 4 December 2024 - Number 76 SQN will conduct a Hawk flyover of RAAF Williamtown Airfield at approx. 3:00pm – 3:30pm. 
  • Friday 6 December 2024  - Number 76 SQN will hold the Initial Fighter Course Graduation for aircrew and weapons systems officers, flying activity will include:
    • 11.05am – 11.15am - Overhead display of 11 x Hawks, 1 x P-40 Kittyhawk 
    • 11.35am  - 2 x F-35As for a low pass and initial-and-pitch
  • Thursday 12 December 2024 - Number 2OCU will re-deploy from Exercise High Sierra 24-1; F-35A aircraft will conduct low passes over the Base.
  • Friday 13 December 2024  - Number 3 SQN Commanding Officer will handover Command, this will include an F-35A aircraft flyover between 12 noon to 1pm

  • Thursday 12 December 2024 - F-35A aircraft will conduct low passes over the Base
  • Friday 13 December 2024 @ 12:00pm-1:00pm - F-35A aircraft flyover
