Recruit Training Unit and RAAF Base Edinburgh share 70th Anniversary

To mark the dual 70th anniversary of No. 1 Recruit Training Unit (1RTU) and the 70th anniversary of RAAF Base Edinburgh, 1RTU is returning to Edinburgh for a graduation parade at its former home base.

For over 40 years, RAAF Base Edinburgh was the home of Air Force recruit training before it moved to NSW. The graduation parade of Recruit Course 06/24 will feature the Air Force Band and a low-level flypast by a P-8A Poseidon aircraft from No. 11 Squadron in front of local dignitaries and veterans.

Commanding Officer 1RTU, Wing Commander David Borg OAM, and a graduate recruit from SA will be available for interview after the parade.

Flying is subject to variables including air traffic control, weather, and operational availability. As such, flypasts and displays may be subject to cancellation at short notice.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.
