Sea King 'Shark 02" 20th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremonies

Wednesday 02 April 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the crash of Royal Australian Navy Sea King helicopter call sign ‘Shark 02’ on the Indonesian island of Nias while conducting humanitarian assistance operations after the Boxing Day tsunami. This tragedy resulted in the loss of nine ADF members, and a further two members seriously injured.

We honour the memory of those who were lost in the Sea King helicopter Shark 02 disaster and acknowledge their family and friends.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the tragedy, a memorial service will be held at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, HMAS Albatross.
